G'day.
Being a complete novice to night photography etc, I was wondering what type of scope could I hook my Canon 7D to, for pics of the planets etc. I would be looking at the cheaper end products at the moment.
Thanks
Cheers Reverend.

hi rev..... are you a creationist or an evolutionist ha ha!
just kiddin'........ anyhoo the least expensive is just to set it up on a tripod and record "startrails" this way you can really see how the stars (earth?) moves on some manual 30s exposures
then there would be the "barn door" tracker, a sort of home made setup that can track the sky and works quite well for widefield photos...... after that well... depends on how deep your pockets are!

Thanks Pat. What I meant was, that I saw a bloke down the beach photographing the stars or planets, and he had his camera hooked up ( actually attached) to the telescope. I was asking about that type of set up. Thanks again.
Cheers Rev.

ok ray then you will need to spend a little bit of money
check out at minimum an eq3 goto mount and an 80mm E.D refractor
this will, or should keep you under 1k
perhaps you could pick up a cheap 6 inch newtonian reflector for a couple of hundred but then you may need to get a more expensive mount to support the extra weight
a good tracking mount becomes a necessity

That would be done with an EOS T-ring and a 2" adaptor.
