14th May Jupiter reprocess.

Hi all.

Finally got my hands on Lesters best Jupiter capture so far with his 14" SCT, so heres my attempt at reprocessing it.

368 frames stacked registax 3. Heavy waveletts. RGB split in Astraimage LR deconvolution.

Gamma/curves/unsharpmask/sharpened/resized/etc etc in Picture Publisher.

I ran my eye over every frame & I give the seeing a 5.5/10. You don't need a firewire camera Lester....given 8/10 & above seeing you'll be writing a new chapter in planet imaging with a neximage & that 14" SCT ;)

I can see a slight hint of onion, but my oppinion is its okay. Well are we getting paranoid about onion rings, its not as if they obliterate the whole planet.

Thanks for doing that Asi and trying to talk me out of the DMK firewire. I will be seeing what your 900 does first compared to the neximage.

I better go round up some more for you to process.

I know you don't like grain & speckle etc, but I tried to find a happy medium between lots of sharp details & soft looking details.

I personally don't 'see' the grain...(by choice) Just the detail.

please try and do a side by side of the nex image and 900nc. I reckon the 900nc and 840k are 50% better.

I would love for one of the toucams to have a rip at optimized colour / raw colour mode in the c14 on a great seeing night.

Is it possible to upload the avi to the IIS FTP area? How big is it when zipped up?

52.2 megs zipped. It would take me forever & a day to upload that on dialup.

Looks like you win this round Lester :D

But in my defence, when I shot this AVI I didn't know wot the heck I was doing...I used like 50% gamma & 60% gain I think, to kill off the dreaded onions. Hence the more grainy look than yours.

I think I am going to have some real competition. I am a bit scared of the full capabilities of the toucam 840 and 900nc. :fight: :fight:

Although you did rate my seeing conditions lower than yours when you saw the Avi. Put it this way if you win there will not be another neximage sold to a IIS'er.:prey2:
