I've been wanting to shoot something like this for a while, but unfortunately the weather hasn't been very obliging. I figured I'd post my draft work-in-process anyway...
35 mm, 15 sec, f/2, ISO 3200 with a stock Canon 5DmkII and 35 mm f/1.4L on a fixed tripod; layered with constellation art from Stellarium.

I like what you've done Dave.
Puts the stars and clusters into perspective.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! :) I'm back to classes at uni already which means less time for IIS...
Try facing south, looking up, and bending your neck all the way back... works the same ;)

Those stars look amazing. Little soft balls. :)

Clever concept and nicely executed. Thevinal version. Have no doubt will b a stunner
Cool. Must confess have always scratched my heard at how the Hyades V shape is a bulls head - not surprising much easier to interpret upside down.
Nice one Dave.

Like that a lot. Very pretty picture. Great star colors and composition. The overlays are a plus.

Lovely shot. You kept nice star colours there which really makes the image.
