Well, I like remaining somewhat obscure (I'm a loner when it comes to being under the stars) but this certainly won't hurt the art of planet imaging & astronomy in general I don't think. I want more people looking UP! :) And look up they will by the time I've finished with Bundaberg QLD lol! :D

Brian.

It's a crop by the News Mail to fit the pic in yes. A shame they did this but obviously out of my control.

Well done on making the paper.

I wondered why you didn't provide a link. I can't quite read the text in your photo. I have just been surfing the net looking for the electronic version of this paper and can't find it.

asimov

Nope, no 'electronic version' funnily enough.. I guess we are 'out in the sticks' here In Bundaberg still;)

Should add guys, that even though they cocked the article up a tad (which was EXPECTED, right??) It's still good exposure for the hobby. I'm looking at the big picture :)

Hi John,

Fantastic stuff. With your large color digital photos and the double page spread,
it is the most eye-catching article I have ever seen in a local paper showcasing
amateur astronomy.

Doug Gillett and the Bundaberg News have done a sterling job.

This type of thing definitely gets people excited.
A fabulous uplifting "good news" article.

However, I did note that not all the news is entirely good up your way  (see below) -

The article will probably be online next week - it's apparently a popular regional topic: NewsMail results for search on "stargazing" (http://www.news-mail.com.au/search/?keywords=stargazing)

Heckuva meteor shower you had up that way last month! :) Nicola cleans up with meteor shower (http://www.news-mail.com.au/news/nicola-cleans-up-with-meteor-shower/1685138/)

Congratulations John, you famous person! Just wait until the paparazzi start appearing on your door step. LOL!

What a great double page spread highlighting the quiet achievements of a dedicated amateur astronomer – top stuff!

Thanks again all! Funny stuff! I just decided to sit down & actually read this edition of the news mail 5 mins ago & came across yet another image of mine! It's now a 3 page spread - BONUS!:eyepop::rofl::lol:

I've been in contact with the crew at the News Mail, & yes the online version comes out monday & they assure me, minus a couple of mistakes that I've pointed out.

Onya News Mail crew! :thumbsup::hi:

I'm a journo mate.....and I can tell you it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that they called Mars the moon......:)

It reminds of the American "Who wants to be a Millionaire" show.

Question: What is bigger....

The lady had 4 choices......two I can't remember, but the other two was an elephant or the moon..

She was stumped and took a 50/50...and was left with an elephant or the moon.....after thinking long and hard, she locked in the elephant.

True.....you can youtube it.
