This is a 6 panel mosaic that I took on the 10 of January. There are plenty of active regions to view and some really nice feathery prominences to be seen on the limb.

Seeing was ok but there was some variation as to how good it was at any one time. That makes it hard to blend in panels.

I have included a colour and mono image for your purusal.

Excellent mosaic Paul! Nice and contrasty and you got some nice seeing in there. The only suggestion would be to try and darken the background without killing the proms. Its not much of an issue on the mono but colour version brings it up.

Lovely image Paul. You certainly proved the Pixel issue. Exquisite detail. :eyepop:
That should make it to poster size. I have gathered a 4 shot sequence with the DMK51 to try. Trouble is the weather here prohibits gathering that much data, in one go, on a regular basis.

Yes I see what you mean. I will take a look and see what I can do. Seeing was ok, but really needed to be as good as on the 22 December. I should have capitalised on that morning.

I think as Ted has said there are times you can go as high as 2800mm with these scopes but the seeing must be very nice and that is fleeting. Resampling cannot do the same as using barlows. :)

The trouble with the DMK51 is more to do with speed with slightly older computers. Dropped frames and download via RAM drives slows the process and extends the time of completing the run. My camera covers a lot more ground than the DMK51 but I complete my entire run in 180 seconds.

I would urge you to consider a SSD for direct download. These drives are fast and can take the highest possible speed of your camera.

And SSDs are now really cheap for acquisition. A 120GB drive can be had for $90, a great investment as a capture drive.
