Hi,

Thought doing a wide field for C/2011 K5 LINEAR would be a good idea. This image taken with the canon 1100D at 100mm was taken jan 9, it puts the comet into perspective with the Taurus xmas tree and Jupiter.

Comet bottom right of image.

Equipment.

Skywatcher ED80, orion mini guider, orion field flattener, HEQ pro 5 mount.
Unmodded canon 1100D, piggybacked 75 to300 zoom at 100mm, 3 minute subs at iso 800, total 15 minutes.
Stacked in DSS and processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Great wide field. It was taken on the same night that I got to observe this comet for the first time. I will have to flag it as a favourite.

Thanks Tom!

Thanks Stu!

Always nice to have an image to go along with what you observed.

Cheers,

Justin.

Very interesting to see how the comet sizes up in a 80mm refractor FOV. Good to see the composition with the other objects too

Thanks Roger!

Should have made it a little clearer, the image is with a 75 to 300 zoom lens at 100mm.

Cheers,

Justin

Nice work, Justin. The green tinge to Jupiter had me momentarily excited by thinking it was the comet... oops! :)
