I loved the wheel of time when it first came out but it took so long and involved so many books that I lost track over the years. With the first book published in 1984 and Robert Jordan passing away in 2007 it looked like it would never be finished. It would seem that they got another writer Brandon Sanderson in to finish the saga.

The question is, is it worth my time to try and finish it off? I believe that the last book had to be split into 3 because there was extensive notes left by the author and they couldn't fit into 1 volume.

It's also available as audio on CD but I was only interested in paper.
Where did you get up to? Sanderson made a reasonable job of keeping to Jordan's style. Harriet (Jordan's widow) did the editing just as she did for the rest of the series, which I feel kept the two volumes I've read on message.

It's about 11000 pages in all. I'm going to order the Orbit paperbacks to replace three trade paperbacks I have, and the hardback which I'll probably replace later.

I got up to the knife of dreams which I believe was the last book by the author. I used to check for a new book all the time when i first stated reading them but lost track when they became so spread out.

Will wait patiently for it to come out in paperback. Certainly the last 2 books were an improvement on some of the middle of the series parts.

I'm not that patient Greg. The trade paperback will probably be a couple of months and the small size paperback (the format I keep) something like 12 months. I'll buy that when it comes out and see it there is any 1st edition value for the hardback in a few years.

If anyone wants trade paperbacks of "Knife of Dreams", "Gathering Storm" or "Towers of Midnight" they will be up for grabs in a couple of weeks.

I made it to book six years ago and then gave up...

From listening to a couple of friends who have persevered with the series the last two books have been very good.
