Paul invited me to his observatory at Clayton on Saturday night. I was torn about what to image, on one side I wanted to take advantage of the dark skies to image LRGB. But on the other side I didn't want to change the filters after the moon came up at 1 am.
I eventually decided on taking narrowband all night on an object that is obscured from my house, the Rosette nebula. This is one hour of s2 and o3 with 140 minutes of ha used as luminance. Narrowband imaging is proving to be a challenging beast without an observatory as each object needs so many subframes.
At any rate, its a start.

Looks good to me Peter. Great result under pretty windy conditions. What does "140 minutes of ha used as luminance" mean? Did you use it in the colour mix and again for luminance?

Beautiful image, Peter!

Yes, I created the colour frame with all of the narrowband images and then I used just the HA frame as the luminance layer. I found that this generally worked better than desaturating the stacked HaO3S2 frames.

That's a great image Peter.
What are the details about scope/camera/mount?
Greg.

Thanks Greg, it is taken with my 6 inch f5 scope on the heq5 pro with my qhy9. I am using an mpcc for coma and guiding with an Orion mini guidescope. It was very gusty at Paul's and the stars have suffered as a result. I plan to go to an oag system this year and might upgrade to a more sensitive guidecam that supports binning.

That is quite a nice shot of this object. I like the colour mix and the depth is very good. Very good 3D feel to the image. Some of the stars on the outer corner indicate some issue but this is very minor. Well done.

I really like the colour blend, beautiful blues and aquas.
