I cant see any posts around regarding this comet at the moment, but its a little beauty. I viewed it last night in my dob, and was very clear in the FOV as an elongated fuzz.

Rob puts it at about mag 8.9.

It is presently in Auriga but climbing higher in our skies each night, and will be in Taurus by Saturday. Rising about 7pm in the North, and visible most of the night.

Certainly worth a look over the next few nights!!

Got a couple of pics last night - just a camera on a tripod, nothing fancy.
A Stellarium image also to give you a rough idea where it is. :)

Thanks Liz,Should be easy to spot as it is close to M38 and M35, both nice open clusters in Bino's. :)
Cheers:thumbsup:

There are certainly quite a few fuzzies in Auriga - was scanning the area with binoculars - beautiful!!

Thanks for the heads up. Just noting how much this comet moves from night to night, it's climbing very quickly at close approach.

M38,37 36,and M35 all within a few degrees of each other and are fine scope objects.
M35 being in Gemini, just next door.

Hey Peter .... and Peter, the brightest one at the moment is F6 Lemmon though rises a bit later (after 10pm) in Centaurus. I found it really easily the other night.

Yes, catch this little nice one before it fades - nicely placed in Taurus at the moment, but moving very quickly!!

Got a look at both last night Liz, I was surprised how quickly Linear is fading.
Lemmon is a fuzz ball which I mistook for a faint Globular Cluster:rolleyes:
Both comets show good movement over a short time.
Cheers:thumbsup:

Well done Mozzie, lucky you nabbed it as it is fading away now. I think I saw that Chris (OBMY) had it at about mag 11.

Should be exciting too, esp for those in Northern Hemisphere, alas, we dont get such a good view, depending on the tail. :prey::prey::prey:
