Anyone still use the standard Philips software that comes with the 840K toucam ?
If so, anyone know about these options? Seems theres the choice of 2: lYUV & 1420. I took 2 AV's of Jupiter the other night using both. On the 1420 I got the onion rings even with gain @ 70% & gamma @ 50%. The one taken using lYUV had no onions.
See screenshot.

I always use IYUV (before I used the 900nc firmware). You can set it in k3ccd as well, you don't need to use the standard software.

Intreresting, I had onions lastnight which had a bad effect on seeing jupiter clearly. Wonder if this was the cause hmmmmm. Thanks Asi will look into it.

the first thing i always do in qfocus is make sure i have iyuv and also make sure the compression setting is changed from no recompression -> full (no compression).
with optimized colour mode (http://www.astrosurf.com/astrobond/ebrawe.htm) or raw mode, i cant remember the last time i had onion rings

Yes Andrew, the default in Vrecord is 1420. Everytime you close the proggy & reopen it will be on 1420....same as the darn output screen defaults to 320 x 240 rather than 640 x 480....just another reason to use K3CD tools I reckon..

Mike, any advantage in using 900nc firmware with the 840K toucam? Is this even possible?

even less compression as the yuy2 codec is used.
you need the wrmac macro program to fool your toucam into thinking it is a s900nc.
so for the wrmac -> http://www.astrosurf.com/astrobond/ebrawe.htm
and for the binaries to load into your toucam -> http://www.home.zonnet.nl/m.m.j.meijer/D_I_Y/spc900nc.htm down the bottom.
yelp if you need help!

make sure you keep a copy of the drivers of the 840k. that is the only issue with the 900nc is raw mode. you need to have installed 840k drivers first and then the 900nc drivers and then swap into raw mode if you want to!

rob_TTT wanted to use raw mode on the 900nc and couldn't so i emailed the main men who wrote the macros and asked why was this happening
