Hello,

Well, I braved the 34º C heat wave and set up in the back garden to re-acquaint myself with solar photography using a DMK31 and full aperture Baader astro solar film filter (density 3.8 for photography).

I also took a full disc shot with the 5D Mk III using the x0.8 Reducer/Corrector to flatten the field of the Tak Mewlon 180 F12.

Whilst the seeing was good, it did not seem to live up to the expectations I had from viewing the jet stream map for Brisbane.

The DMK31 shots were taken with the Tak x1.6 Extender.

Cheers

Dennis

White light master at work here. Nice images Dennis. I like them all but the third in particular is lovely.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them. I have enjoyed moments of more stable and better seeing where the solar granules were clearly visible on-screen during the AVI capture phase and once punched through AVIStack, the detail was breathtaking.

For this series, although the seeing was very good, the granules were “boiling” on screen rather than being stable and well defined.

Cheers

Dennis
