Hi guys,
I set up in the driveway last night rather than drive 22ks out to my usual dark site. Let the scope cool over dinner, wandered out to start and the town lights and street lights that lean intimidatingly over my place limited visibility to mag 3-4... (hence why I often drive!).
I struggled all evening with focus due to seeing (pretty average 5-6 / 10), and exposure:shrug: ! It wasn't till later in the night that I worked out what was happening with exposure... the sky was simply uniformly losing transparency due to haze. I couldn't see it cause my eyes couldn't properly dark adjust... but I guessed as much when I looked up at a dark sky, no clouds evident, but only about 6 stars +Jupiter visible in the sky! I get into a bad habit when I'm imaging... concentrating so hard on what I'm doing I forget to look around at the sky:rofl: .
Anyway, given the conditions I am pretty happy with these Jupiters, cause I didn't expect to get anything this good from what I had to work with. But I have recently learned how to get a bit more out of registax than I had previously been doing:P .
All taken with ToUcam through C8 with K3CCDTools. Capture stats vary a bit between images due to chasing exposure but in general saturation was 50%, gamma ranged between 0 and 50%, brightness between 50% and 100%, gain between 0 and 50%, exposure time between 1/25 and 1/250 sec and fps either 10 or 15 fps. Date and Time is in the filenames.
