On this site (http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/jacara/pilotsciencenotes.php) an Australian organization propose a two meter telescope due to the very best seeing conditions there.
Yes it is very cold there which allows very few water vapor in the atmosphere.
But sky coverage is poor due to the high latitude (75šS) which allows studying the southern hemisphere sky only and from October to February it is useless at all as the Sun does not set from beginning Nov to beginning Feb.
What are your ideas ?
