colour image of ngc 3576 and 3603

Howdy
After taking a Ha image here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=9947
Tonight I did a full hour of imaging in colour with the UHCS filter
4x15 mins ISO 400, UHCS, uv/ir filter and MPCC, 10 inch F5.6 scope, modded 350D, processed in IRIS and Photoshop.

With all this long exposure manual guiding you should have a day job as a Zen Monk:)
Had to train the PEC on the Meade the other night for just 24mins and that was complete torture.

I know exactly what your saying Zane.

Manualy guiding through an eyepiece like Scott has been doing is tedious & difficult.

I'm in the habit of setting 10 exposure times, click Autoguide then go inside and watch some TV.....lol

Excellent FOV that camera gives with your scope!

It does appear a little too monochromatic though and NGC 3603, the nebula on the left, should have a different red hue to NGC 3576 on the rightbecause NGC 3603 is twice as far away and as such its colour is influenced much more by interstella redening.

I'm impressed by the quality of your DSLR images, keep at it please!

We are all suffering from the same malady. After spending a lot of time and energy getting some red in our nebula images with standard H alpha inhibited cameras, we do tend to be overcome with the richness of the red in modded versions. This will pass with time.
