A 'Not so "Merry" breakfast'

Its been very very hot lately,so decided to start work early as I can,was off at 5 am this morn to start work,but looks like the Kooka's had already been up before me and this one had nailed a meal-a very young bandicoot.

This Kooka's capture happened right in front of where I was working,I always have my 400L within arms length in the bush these days,and captured these images-around 1/200th iso 640 and F 5.6 with 400L and 50D,its was still rather dim,and overcast-hence the settings.

Not the most pleasant of images (hope ned flanders does not get post removed)-but this is nature,and how often does one have a good piece of glass at hand when nature does her thing.

the thing that pisses me are the dead animals in the middle of the road particularly bob tails because there avoidable i've often thought i should photograph the native animals i find in my travels dead on the side or middle of the road that really would be ugly.

I presume you mean one should swerve when one encounters an animal in the middle of the road ?? :shrug:

Well i certainly wont for any animal when i an doing 100 ks an hour in a truck pulling a 5 tonne 5th Wheeler behind me.

Excellent capture Chris.
To be able to capture such an image in the wild with a 400mm lens handy is quite remarkable!
The second shot has a very nice and pleasant framing of both animals.

Thanks Frank,and all other viewers that left feed back:thumbsup:,last time I took an image of a kooka it had a baby lorikeet,they must have remarkable eyes to spot creatures on the ground.

I tried a few different settings,but it was still quite dark,as it was very early morning and overcast.
