Hi all,

Had a chance kids all asleep and the weather permitted :thumbsup:

-Total of 1hr exposure-
Sensor was at 40 degrees, still to much thermal noise!
Happy with the results for a DSLR.
Equipment:
Equatorial NEQ6
Canon 550D @400iso
8inch Newton TS
Orion StarShooter Autoguider
BPCC coma corrector Controlled by laptop and relevant software for tracking.

To be honest the processing is a little over done, but to bring out the detail I had to push it. So its best I could with what I have, it was great just to get out there :D

Thanks Paul and Laurie for your kind words. Had the sensor been cooler, it would have made for a great picture. Just anther accessory on the to buy list haha.

Hi and thank you Petra. I used 12x300sec light @400iso 5x40sec @800iso for the core, no flats or darks ect where used. BackyardEOS was indicating 39-40 degrees even with a short cool down period, that's Darwin for me tho. I belive this camera would be excellent, if it was not for the sensor temps it produces.

Thanks Dave, got as high as 50 degrees at one point just frame and focusing it for capture :rolleyes:

well done, exactly as DSLR Canon can work. As you said, the processing could be better. To reduce noise, try in Photoshop Filter-noise-reduce noise on color channel red, green and blue. With different values for strength and details for each one.
I did here, and it seemed more clean

Excellent thank you Jorge. :thumbsup: Like you said, its some good in depth. information on processing :) It seems somtimes the longest and almost hardest part to capturing DSO.
