View Full Version here: : Explore 82D 14mm field curvature - how bad?

Have read that the 82-degree 14mm is the worst of the line and has significant field curvature. However, most of these comments seem to have come from people using it in fast Dobs, which is not my intended purpose.

I am considering it for use in my SV80ED f/7 refractor only. I have a Delos 14mm for my Newt and 110ED.

Has anyone tried it in a f/7 scope? Any comparisons with other eyepieces would be useful. For example, I used to own a 13mm Stratus and thought it was 'ok' in a f/6 Dob I used to own, but that was before I'd ever looked through Nagler, Panoptic or XW!

Thanks

Morton

Well, I did try my ES 14mm 82 in my first scope which is still have. It is a 6" newt. F6.8. If my memory serves me correctly, the views were pretty sharp. It should do you alright.

Hi Adrian,

So it can't have been that bad since you still have it?

If you mean the scope? Meh... I wouldn't be able to get $50 for it probably. Its sitting in a corner somewhere. I havn't decided its fate yet.

Well, with the 14mm 100 and now the 14mm Delos. Probably haven't used it for 10+ months, maybe longer. Happy to loan it out at get together's to who ever wants a look though.
