Even though i was only at Lake Clifton for a few hours on the 14th, i still managed to get a short time lapse that showed a number of meteors from the Geminid shower (the really bright streak at the start is a plane flying overhead).
My Youtube channel is the only place i have it uploaded so far. http://youtu.be/iUfx4_V9hgM
I have attached one of the images from it below

Lovely colours in that scene. What camera and lens was that?

Thanks guys.
This was shot with my D800 with a 14-24mm f/2.8. Each shot was 30 seconds at ISO4000 @f/3.2
Greg, i can only figure that lot of the colour in the sky was from some low lying cloud being lit up by Bunbury to the south. I can't explain the green or maroon bands any other way.
It is a shame that it is pretty much a full moon while i am on holidays over Christmas as i was looking forward to some nice clear, dark skies while i had some time off from the day job and am able to stay out for longer to do more of this sort of stuff.

My D800E also picks up these same colours in the sky. They must be actual. Some sort of air ionisation.
Greg.
