Hi all,

this is a photograph I took last year during a trip back to my place of birth, The Basque Country 'Euskadi'.

I woke early one morning to notice that the moon was just about to set behind a mountian Sollube 497m elv.

Below on the mountain you can see a typical rural chalet or 'caserio' as we call them.

The exposure was not quite right, the landscape is too dark, I was still quite new to photography but nevertheless I still like it enough to share.

Thanks for looking :)

Nice shot. You might be able to touch up the image to improve the contrast in the dark regions, especially if it's a RAW image. (I'm still learning about these things myself).

I notice the Basque cycling supporters each year during the Tour de France - very vocal and mad keen for their team: Euskaltel Euskadi. From what I've seen, it's a very picturesque part of the world.

Thanks RG unfortunately at the time I had no idea what RAW meant, in fact that term sounded scary and I didn't want to risk not getting a picture at all. In hind-sight I can only sigh :)

Yes the Basque's are a noisy lot, you can't drive anywhere without getting stuck behind a Peloton, so if you need to be at the airport at a certain time, make sure you leave nice and early.

Miguel Indurain was a Basque rider that won the Tour de France 5 times in a row 91-95, he hasn't admitted to doping (yet) but it wouldn't suprise me.

When it comes to the Basque Country I'm bias but the landscape is very similar to NZ, green and lots of mountains. The cuisine however I can guarantee you is world class  - interesting recent fact (per capita) there are more restaurants with CHEFS HAT's in the basque country than anywhere else in the world.

Cool :) I was born in Bilbao, Bizkaia. I'm guessing by your surname (which I've only noticed now) is from Iparralde i.e. the French region of the Basque Country?

I try to go back every couple of years, majority of my family live there in a small fishing town called Bermeo.

Yeah, surname gives it away :) I'm from Tarbes. Quite a bit off west but I know the whole area quite well. Been back there a couple of times but it's a long way...
