Recently I purchased a Losmandy Star Lapse after being inspired by so many great animation sequences here. Still learning but I think now on my way. In the coming months I hope to produce an awesome sequence but time will tell.

I like the panning sequences I see now and really want to get into this form of astrophotography. So with that in mind I present another test video (longer than before and through Vimeo).

The title is a reflection of where I feel most comfortable. That being out under the stars and enjoying the night sky.

Good one Paul. Perhaps we can learn to master these together. I have done a few time lapses but yet to set up the Polarie for a panning effect. Easy enough though.

I suppose 95% of it is having a fabulous scene to time lapse.

I have one near my dark site scouted out for next years
Milky Way season.

Shows promise Paul. Well done.. what was the details of the individual pictures and the integration time between frames? I use my little teletrack for this sort of panning, works extremely well also..

the exposures were 30 seconds at f2.8 and interval was 32 seconds. The panning was at 30 degrees an hour with a change to 60 degrees an hour when it returns back. There is some jerky looking images because of little lapses in power for the camera. I think I have that sorted now.

Next time try reducing it to 1 or 2 seconds between exposures to make it look smoother. I also prefer the playback frame rate a bit faster - say 25 or 30 fps, but you need a lot of shots to make a long movie.

Actually that is what it is. The image length is 30 second and the interval is 32 seconds. Meaning that it is 2 second between shots. If you are not familiar with an intervalometer then it might appear my statement means 32 seconds between shots.

Nice work, Paul! Looks like a great house in a great location. I've never been to Clayton, but I did get to ride a helicopter to Goolwa once. Is there where you do most of your imaging from?
