Hey Guys,

I thought I would finally post an image. I took this on the 16th of Nov 2012.

It is an LRGB of the Helix Nebula through an 8 inch Vixen R200SS Newtonian. The camera is the first generation SBIG 8300M running at -15C. The filters are Baader RGB and Lum. The guide scope is a little 50mm Orion strapped to the side of the optical tube. Processing was completed using CCDStack and Photoshop.

Imaging Details
300 sec X 5 Red 2x2 Bin
300 sec X 5 Green 2x2 Bin
300 sec X 5 Blue 2x2 Bin
300 sec X 6 Lum 1x1 Bin

A beautiful photo Terry.

You have your R200SS working very well.

Great colour and detail.

Ross.

It was taken at the Astronomical Society of Victoria Dark Sky site in Heathcote Victoria. The mount was an Astro-Physics 900. The AP-900 is one bit of kit that is turn on and forget. It just works.

Like the colour and the image is sharp and detailed. A bit more exposure and I think you've got a really top shelf Helix there.

Cheers

As another R200SS devotee to another, GOOD STUFF! Reminds me to get my lazy bum out and do a minor collimation on the secondary (moved a little since the felt around the secondary edge came loose after someone cleaned it :) )
