Hi All

I managed to get in some solar imaging before work the other day. I was lucky enough to capture a wonderful arching prominence that has been a prominent solar feature the last few days.

Taken with Lunt LS80, DMK41 camera and 2.5x powermate plus a 2x barlow to give 5X magnification (2800mm focal length). Thanks.

That's amazing
Would you be able to work out its size in Km's, I know it'll be big but would be interesting to see some numbers

Thanks Alistair. On my rough calculations I think it spans about 212,000 kms measured as a straight line point to point at the emergence positions on the surface. Longer if you straightened the prominence's curve into a straight line. This is equivalent to about 16.6 earth diameters. Perhaps others can confirm my estimates.

Thanks Narayan, It made me late for work! But perhaps that was a bonus as well? :)
