Hi Community,

Just wanted to share some of the snaps I took last week

Jupiter-Orion-Sirius (http://www.flickr.com/photos/myshutterworld/8248990791/in/photostream/lightbox/)

Sirius (http://www.flickr.com/photos/myshutterworld/8248989961/in/photostream/lightbox/)

Rigel Double Star (http://www.flickr.com/photos/myshutterworld/8248989603/in/photostream/lightbox/)

The last two images were taken via afocal method using GSO 8" f/4 on autoguiding. However what I noticed was PHD guiding would loose the guide as soon as I would start clicking snaps via my 5D mark III. The scope was mounted on the HEQ5Pro and it was a rough polar alignment. But I'm starting to think maybe the 5d's shutter click even with mirror lock up causes disturbance and somehow the autoguider is obv very sensitive.

What are your opinions and what should I do to correct this ? Has this happened to anyone else ? I may try again using a 400d to see if it causes disturbance to PHD or not.

I really like your Jupiter-Orion-Sirius photo... very scenic! Nope, I've had no problems using PHD and my 5DmkII (though I don't image with a newt). What happens to the star in the PHD window? How are you triggering the exposures?

They are very enjoyable photos and I especially like the one of Sirius.

Thanks Dave.

The star moves away from the green box and thats why PHD starts blinking red. I trigger the 5d either from computer mostly but then sometimes via a remote trigger. I mostly don't touch my scope once guiding is enabled.
