Good seeing last night around midnight. Jupiter is just past opposition, so it is nice and bright, and the seeing was stable enough that I was tempted to try a 3x Barlow with my C11.

Overall it gives a softer result than the 2.5x powermate. Also interesting that the stacking artifacts are much less prominent than my last capture with the 2.5x powermate.

Io is nice and bright. And noticeably much smaller than Ganymede which I captured on the 2nd.

Two reasonable nights in one week has me feeling pretty good about this Jupiter apparition, even though the circumstances down here are pretty crummy.

very nice ivan im thinking about getting my c14 out tonight. I would like to start imaging but i cant afford to buy a focuser. What focuser do you use on your c11?

Hi Mark, I use a JMI Motofocus. It was about $220 from JMI once shipping was added in. It just motorises the standard SCT focus knob, and therefore you still have the backlash of the moving mirror arrangement. It is workable, but I think a separate drawtube focuser would be better.

I focus my C6 by hand. It's tricky, and only feasible when using a colour camera. Using a mono camera, having to make fine adjustments between every filter -- that's what pushed me to buy the motofocus.

Thank you, Ken !

Thanks Seb, I think this is a really interesting hemisphere of Jupiter.

And good luck with the TVs. I have been happy with mine.

Thanks Asimov.

Thanks Ray. Was thinking it may have been good over your side of the gulf that night too.
