Moon, Pleaides and Venus over Brisbane City
On the night of 17th April, the Moon occulted the Pleaides and Venus was also nearby, creating a lovely view in the West sky at sunset. This image was captured over-looking Brisbane City, with a tripod-mounted Pentax K100D and a 70-300mm lens. The next occultation of the Pleiades by the Moon for Australians happens at Dawn on June 11th (SE Australia only). The Pleiades, or Seven Sisters (M45) is an open star cluster containing middle-aged hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus.
