Jupiter + GRS, 29th May 2005

Hi all.

Had another night of good seeing last night, and so was able to capture some more Jupiter which rivals my best image on the 20th of May.

Played with a few different settings, and pulled the barlow and ToUcam out as far as I could to increase focal length and image scale. In what must be considered good luck, my last set of avi's and settings for the night turned out to be the best of the bunch. Had I stopped a few minutes earlier, I would not have reached the potential that the night offered!

Details:
- 10" dob (no tracking) with ToUcam Pro 840k
- Seeing: 7.5/10, Transparency: 8.5/10
- Capture settings: 5fps, 1/33s exp., 10% gain, 0 gamma
- FL approx 3100mm, with 2.4x barlow pulled out and ToUcam pulled out.

Processing:
- Approx 120 frames (out of 260) stacked and wavelets processed in registax
- LR deconvolution applied in AstraImage, unsharp mask
- The top right is 1.5x resampled, and below it is 70% of the original size.

I'm pretty happy with the nights efforts, would've liked to keep imaging until the GRS crossed the meridian, but my wife wanted me to come inside and watch the end of My Restaurant Rules with her

EQ tracking platform should arrive within the next 7 days!

Comments and feedback always welcomed.

Nice one Mike. Man what dedication. Having a quick peek back at the 20th shots, I definately find them with more detail, but having said that, it in no way detracts from the damn fine effort of these shots. Top stuff

Thanks guys. And you're right Paul, I think the 20th May shots have more detail (better seeing), but I do prefer the colour balance in these shots.

One day it'll all come together

Great shots mike , I do prefer the others from the 20th but you must have got the crayons out for this one to get that orange/red blob to cover up an artifact from the ccd in the camera
