Conditions could not have been better after some very ordinary days. What an exciting time, watching it come onto the disc and imagining how the early astronomers would have felt when they saw the same view.
Celestron 80 achro on GSO Skyview, QHY5c and film+green filter.
thanks for looking. Regards Ray
Very nice Ray! I was also thinking about astronomers of the past trying to measure the Astronomical Unit as Venus crossed the Sun's limb.
Out of interest, where in the Riverland were you? (I'm from Berri originally)
Cheers,
Stephen
Hi Stephen - yes the history is what made this so fascinating. I was in Lyrup and gave a solar system presentation to some junior schoolkids in Berri the day before.
For interest, have attached a composite showing the whole sun. Could not sharpen quite as much since panel boundaries were too obvious. Regards Ray
Ooh Yeah, I like it. This is close to the best white light disk I have seen from the transit. Sharp detail with some plague up near the upper right. Very nice work.
Great stuff Ray, top effort.
Seems I should have driven out to you.
looks like you did OK anyway Ryan
