White light Venus Transit from Brisbane + 3 videos + Commemorative images

Some images I caught of the event, using a 12" Dobsonian, Canon EOS 600D in still and movie mode, and 5x Powermate for the closeups.

The image of the ship is a composite of a Venus transit photo and a photo I took of the replica HMB Endeavour from April last year as is made its way past Pottsville to Brisbane on its circumnavigation of Australia.

Also some video:
Ingress (16x speed):

also:

and a highly magnified video of the planet leaving the disc:

Thanks for looking

Tom

Love the newspaper shot - it's one that makes me immediately think "that's clever!" and wish that I'd thought of it That first shot is nice and sharp too.

Hi Tom,

Fantastic work! Flew up to Brisbane and helped out at the Planetarium all day (showed the sun to >1,000 people). Also managed to take some still shots. Observed the ingress and egress visually and your video gives me a great momento. The black drop effect was fabulous.

Thanks again.

Richard J.
