Congratulations to Lachlan MacDonald
and his beautiful bride, Annette, who
were married at a lovely outdoor ceremony this morning at Cabarita here in
Sydney overlooking the Parramatta River. In attendance were many family and friends.
Many of you will know Lachlan through his long involvement at the ASNSW
For example, Lachlan designed and maintained the ASNSW web site and was
a recipient of the club's most prestigious award, "The McNiven Medal
Lachlan is also director of the volunteer group, 3RF Australia
Every year, Lachlan devotes a considerable amount of his
time and energy to freely making available large aperture telescopes to visiting observers
from the northern hemisphere and at public outreach events, such as the
one recently held at Parramatta Park.
Most of you will remember the Red Moon we had last December.
That Red Moon celestial event will forever after have a deep romantic connection for
Lach and Annette.
The following is an excerpt from their wedding web site -

Within moments of Annette gasping in awe of the beauty of the Red Moon, she turned around and saw Lachlan down on one knee, and at that very moment Lachlan asked her if she would do him the honour of marrying him.
Before he had even finished asking the question, Annette was saying "YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!" - which Lachlan took to mean "yes".
Lachlan then yelled out at the top of his voice, "SHE SAID YES!!!" which echoed right across the vast Capertee Valley, presumably waking many from their restful sleep.
From that moment forth, the skies continued to clear allowing them to enjoy the remainder of the eclipse together as a newly engaged couple.
I am sure all of you who know Lach will want to wish he and Annette much happiness
for the future.
