Well I dusted off my old LXD55 SN8 as I haven't imaged since Dec last year thanks to work travel etc etc.
Anyway, decided to go back and do the moon again and also had a go at Mars (my 1st genuine attempt) and Saturn too (last time was with a Neximage Camera). Did a Saturn with IR in place and one with IR removed. Got the onion rings happening
The results of Mars and Saturn were dissappointing. Not sure if its just the limit of the scope but I was struggling with an exposure of 1/15th and gain around 600.
5 x Powermate
FL = 4060mm (F20) Except Moon (2x Powermate).
Mars and Saturn ~ 400 frames
Moon is 500 frames in a mosaic stitched in CS4
Registax 6 - Pretty much default settings.
For the Moon, I find a 2" aperture mask gives me slightly better results so the Moon was done with this.
Been thinking about the DMK21/618 model. Wondering whether I would really benefit from this on my old scope.
Thanks for looking (and critique, comments welcome!!)
