I know what the slightly odd shaped stars are and im trying to figure out how to fix it Yousee Baader in their infinite wisdom when they created the MPCC instead of making it a smooth barrel, its got that really annoying step that just so happens to land right in the middle of my compression ring and hence tilting it ever so slightly.

Currently ive tried to fix it with thin strips of aluminium can layered up. although this works pretty well. its not perfect. I have even thought about putting the MPCC in the lathe and milling the top shoulder off so it can sit flush. but thats a drastic move.

That looks really good. you mentioned they were at -30, but you've used darks. What would it look like without darks? would there be much of a difference? were your darks 900 secs well and did they have any noise in them?

Yeah its a exercise in completeness mate the -30 darks are well.... pretty well clean and there was very little difference in the calibrated to non calibrated, When i get home I will do a small comparison. I have to sort out my flats but due to the system im running at the moment having very little vingetting I can nearly get away with it. The qhy9 runs a mechanical shutter so i really need to dim down my setup

I plan on running at -35 to -40 during the winter months as last night it was at 75% power at -30 with a ambient of about 15 deg. So when that drops down another 10 deg, theoretically ill be able to push it further without stressing the system. This gives an increase in QE and of course even less noise!

Mike its been raining for the past week, and cloudy since Feb/march or blowing its arse out eigther or I got one night, tonight is cloudy with rain increasing in the morning and about the same all the way though

Great work plenty of detail there, I know your pain working with focusers and coma correctors that tilt when you tighten the compression screw. Manufactures need a common standard that works, ha fat chance. Drilling and tapping two extra threads at 120 deg. can help, but nothing beats all threaded parts.

Thanks Rob, it was a last minute thing, i had to do a site inspection so i was on the foot in the city looking up going... mmm that is a nice clean sky. Got back had a look the pricis for the day was sunny. checked skippy, I bailed at 5pm. got home at 630. then was a little dejected by Thors helmet transiting at 5pm the palm tree got me on Vela so the chook it was.

Compare that image with this one i took almost 4 years ago here admittedly that was with the ED 80 and I knew bugger all

Ken. no way am i going to drill into my FT gear plus it already has 3 thumb screws. no matter how much i try try try. it pops just a little bit. I have to go fully screwed fittings if i want to dodge that nasty if i can find a piece of 90mm stock I will turn up a adaptor
