Upcoming Event: Partial Lunar Eclipse, 4th June 2012
The Transit of Venus isn't the only thing happening during June.
On the 4th June, there's a partial lunar eclipse in a great position to view and photograph for Australians and New Zealanders, as it will be visible high in the sky during the evening.
It's not an overly deep eclipse but still work checking out.
Lunar Eclipses are completely safe to observe without any special equipment or filters.
Here's the article with all the info you need to see it and photograph it.
Partial Lunar Eclipse - 4th June 2012

Aye aye aye.... another celestial event?!
I didn't know about this one, thanks Mike.
I think Hubby was right the other day when he yelled at me, "there's always a new sky event!!!" Sheeesh. Big Super Moon made him a bit grumpy when I made him get in the car with camera and go for a drive. I like this new camera of mine, I just tell him what to do.

It's actually clear outside here!
A massive wind storm on its way overnight, but it might actually stay clear for the lunar eclipse.
I'd prefer it was clear on Wednesday

I have my Sony a200 on tripod with new Samyang 500mm cat outside taking some preliminary shots.
Now can it stay clear until Wednesday?

Yep, here for meetings in Adelaide from Perth, all washed out...
Brought the PST over (which airport security in Perth scrutinized on the xray machines... pass!).

It's in progress now You can already see a visible shadow over part of the moon. Clear skies in Brisbane, but not before I could polar align. I foresee lots of nudging in the next two hours...
