Adapters that allow me to use the STX filterwheel arrived today.

All worked very well, except there is still a slight lack of orthogonality in the focal plane...but now I know where it is and the fix will be trivial.

Sorry for the Deja-vu....(standard candle again, Eta Carina neb) and a web friendly 2k by 2k format. Exposure just 10 minutes.

That makes two of us H....but a luck would have it, rather than gathering startlight, work will soon have me elsewhere...but hopefully this respite in the weather will last through the weekend

Thanks Chris, with the 16803 sensor around 1.6 arc sec per pixel. Pretty much perfect for the seeing I usually get.

Thermal stability seems to be excellent. I set the focus at the start of a session and forget about it for the rest of the night.. 5 micron stars across the entire field are very reachable.

How do you see an orthogonality problem in that image Peter?? Those stars are round pin pricks out to the edge!

Almost makes me want to go widefield rig!

Looking extremely promising Peter. I can't see any problem with the stars.

Looks very good. Tilt is almost not visible and is probably mostly visible in 1x1 downloads. But if you can correct you probably should. Little things like that can bug you.

Its just under 1200mm focal length so its already longer focal length than your TOA150!

Around 1200mm focal length is a sweet spot for a lot of objects.
Plus even if you used a 1.6X or 2X extender that could handle the STX16803's large sensor you'd still be under F7/8 for smaller galaxies.
So that fast F3.8 can make it very versatile.

Ah..you can pick it in the 4k x 4k data, the guide chip is also a tad off co-planar when you focus on the extreme opposite sensor edge.

I'm confident some shim stock will make everything dead-nuts square on.

As Greg mentioned, the FL is not that short...it's the KAF 16803 doing most of the work in taking a good swath of stellar real-estate.
