Comet Garradd C/2009 P1

I took this one last night.

3 minute subexposures and a total of 1 hour and 36 minutes.

This comet is moving quite fast.

Planewave CDK17 at F4.45, Proline 16803, Paramount ME.

Taken at my home observatory in Kurrajong NSW.

Quite nice, the trail stands out well from the background, I did it a few nights back and it didn't quite stand out so well. I also noticed it zipped along quite quickly

I was pleasantly surprised at the detail it had.

Thanks Liz. I had to work out how to process an object where there are 2 motions -the stars move and the comet moves differently to the stars.
Tricky.

Yes I think so too Mike. I was quite excited about it. Elenin is too low in the west for me to image from my location (a big mountain in the road in that direction). Maybe later when it comes up early in the morning.

Perhaps I'll get that brown dwarf star with it too

Greg.

A beautiful photo Greg.

How did you get the comet and the stars so sharp?

Thanks.

Ross.

Thanks Anthony. I am imaging it again tonight near M71.

It does not appear to be quite as bright as the other night.

Greg, great image that I'm really impressed by.
And as above how did you process the two different moving objects for the image?

Greg, that result is spectacular. Pity it can't be seen like that in the eyepiece!
