Somewhere in Serpens....

I was playing in Serpens the last few nights and this is what I came up with:
http://www.tvdavisastropics.com/astr...s-1_0000d7.htm

There is a lot of stuff there -- some dark nebulae mixed with some very faint wispish nebulae. There is also some very faint reflection nebulae that I can't seem to find a catalog designation for. Oh, and there are a lot of stars!

You can see the OSC data here:
http://www.tvdavisastropics.com/astr...s-1_0000df.htm

I don't know why some people think OSC cameras are not up to the task. There is a lot of stuff in this frame!

Super result Tom, the 3D look is about the strongest I have seen in your dust work to date, amazing processing skills you have sir!

Overall though, in composition and feel, I actually like the OSC version the best.

Thats just stunningly beautiful! Definitely one of the best images I have seen in a long time. The glow from those orange-red stars makes an incredible contrast with the sharp edges of the dust clouds, and the reflection nebulae is the icing on the cake. Very well done!

Actually prefer the first image, the second one seems a little loaded to the lower right and not the same level of interest to the upper right.

Personal taste perhaps.

Thanks everyone. I like this region of the sky for interesting, yet faint, objects.

A wonderful image Tom.

There's also hints of emission neb through the shot as well, especially in the top right hand corner.

That is a wonderous result especially the OSC version with such variation throughout.

Tom dustman Davis. You're the only imager that has such a huge collection of dust images. I spent a couple of hours looking through your gallery the other day just to get some ideas on which object I would try for next (since I would like to image more dust). This is just another great image to add to your collection. Very nicely done.

Thanks again everyone. This is such an interesting part of the sky I thought it needed some exposure time.
