Let me start by wishing 'good luck' and 'keep safe' to our members on the Central Coast near the bushfires! Nasty Stuff. We had one not too far away but under control today.
Now, this bizzare weather! Yesterday it was 41 degrees here with a disgusting Hot northerly wind that sapped all the energy out of you.
Then, today we reached a maximum of only 17 degrees!!! and it has rained almost all day. We have gone from a record heat yesterday to wearing jumpers and putting the heater on today! Tonight it is freezing outside!
Ken this is an indication of what has happened today. The helecopter shots are from Scott Alder, I kidnapped him to hunt down the hotspot and the chopper.
We had a comfortable 33c yesterday... some fires to the west up set the viewing
last night... but New Year Eve! wow! best skies I've had for months, was even seeing
hints of the Ecke gap in the A ring on Saturn in my trusty lil 8" f/6 newt!. I'm sure if I
lived in suburbia I would of swapped for a 12" dob by now....
aaaaarrrrrhh there's nothing like dark rural skies!! bring on the 16" GSOoooooooooooo!!!!!
Same story here 40 degrees, with hot wind yesterday.
I struggled to sleep then got rudely awakened by yet another thunderstorm.
That at least dropped the temp, then it felt so cold had to go and get the doona.
Doubt its going to reach 20 today
ok a lovely day here in tassie yesterday, but by 12pm, ambient was 6 degrees and mirror was 11 degrees. by 3.30am, the ambient was 2.5 degrees and the mirror 5 degrees and as dawn approached 1.5 degrees it got down to!!
needless to say the images of saturn weren't great!!!
