IC4406 The Retina Nebula, a PN in Lupus

Hi all
FINALLY a clear night sky after weeks of cloudy and wet weather. I used the 10 inch scope to image the Retina nebula in Lupus, IC 4406.

8x10 mins ISO400. LPS filter and Baader MPCC coma corrector. Modded 350D. Hand off axis guided as usual on the old Sampson mount (built 1986). Seeing turned out to be pretty good, wind calm but extreemely WET! Dew very heavy with the secondary fogging for the first time even with the foam dewshield on.

All round good image Scott. I have seen this little beasty imaged only a few times, wonder if it is bright enough to barlow the scope and have another go at longer FL with shorter subs to really have a crack at the fine detail in there..?

Yep, a bit more magnification would start to show the crinkled look that so clearly shows up on the HST image, but would need excellent seeing

That's very cool. Seen that one imaged a couple of times. Given the conditions, FL and equipment I think you've done a great job.

The 10 inch is big enough for me, as I have to lift it onto the mount each time I use it, wouldnt want anything heavier, unless I win lotto and can afford a permanent observatory somewhere
