I been playing a social game of soccer every Wednesday now for nearly 2 years with people from work and other Govt departments (having never played a team sport in my youth) which attracts up too 20 guys each Wednesday for an 1hrs game and I've been loving it.
Today I had my nose broken
this is the series of events
12:45 start soccer match
12:50 get fouled seriously OK take penalty shot
12:55 chasing another player down elbowed in nose by accident
12:57 shake head touch nose feel bone move and blood starts pouring
After retrieving clothes etc from change rooms and valuables from office ring wife tell her to get ready to take me too hospital catch taxi home $50 fare (I commute)
Wife rings daughters who are out shopping (they laugh)
Go to emergency at local hospital arrive 2:00pm eventually see doctor by 3:30pm
Looks at nose presses it (must be a sadist) checks nasal passages takes blood pressure 159/90 asks how I feel (it didn't hurt much until he pressed it) no x-ray no bandage referral to ENT specialist tells me to wash off dried blood says OK to pick nose and laughs then decides should give me a tetanus shot sends home with some antibiotics, time 4:30pm.
Now heres the question
a) do I give up sport because of my age or just grin and bear it and continue to enjoy playing
b) should I play in a social match this Saturday planned with some day release prisoners from a low security institution
