Ghost of Jupiter with 14" SCT at f10

Hi all,

after haveing some trouble with the focal reducer, and now waiting for the correct fittings from Bintel, to get the required 105mm spacing, I shot this object at P.F.

16x30seconds processed in Images Plus. The internal detail is showing up nicely, with what appears to be ejecta commimng from the central star polar regions, which is different to the radial structure.

love the internal detail in this and the image scale.

Very well done, look forward to more images when you have sorted out the focal reducer.

That looks pretty nice is this LRGB or OIII etc?

I have never seen those two sets of spikes on the inner ring before, do you think they are real or are they some artifact of your imaging system or processing?

A quick search of net images of this object show nothing like them..?

Here is a pretty sharp Earth based image done with a 20" RC at Mt Wilson Observatory - known for its great seeing... not sure I can match any features to those in your shot

The central star in yoru image looks a bit strange too, like it's out of focus..?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have been playing around in Images Plus, trying this and that, so the spikes may be an artifact. I wouldn't stake my life on it being new detail.

Don't want to lead anyone astray.

Image was taken with Astro 40D camera, which is peltier cooled.

Lester I don't know enough about this object to comment about what's already discussed but the image certainly looks good.
The colour and detail is lovely.
