Beslan, one year on

Saw a documentary last night on SBS on "The Cutting Edge" about the Beslan massacre in Russia where 345 or so people were killed, and over half of them children. It's been one year since that took place!

Without getting into the politics of the "why" it happened, my god what a tragedy that was. I sat there for the hour in stunned silence. And then when it was over, I went and hugged and kissed my kids while they slept in their beds.

I'm certainly not saying people without kids can't feel the same about it, but I know that having kids of my own, putting myself in that circumstance, it's truly unimaginable the horror that you'd be going through.

Sorry to start the morning with a feel-bad thread. But sometimes we are truly lucky to live where we do.

Very true Mike. It's a fact of life, no matter what and where in the world a tragic event happens, i do feel the sadness that comes with these situations, if you now what i mean.
