Eta....in bulk

Finally got some software that handles mosaics really well, and allowed me to concentrate on the star colours rather than getting stuck in a registration loop.

http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery12.html

will lead to a *really big* version. Not iphone friendly.

Peter

Wow, now that is really good. One of the best Eta's i've seen. How many frames is the mosaic?

Very nice work, Peter. The star colours really make it pop.

Thanks Gary, Mike.

The Mosaic is the same 4 frame STL11k data set as was somewhat infamously and incorrectly colour profiled recently in AS&T (also a big thumbs up to Greg B at AS&T for re-printing it in the current issue)

It seems to me that if you get good star colour variation (whites, blues , yellows.....but no greens!) the rest of the colours fall into place. I have to say I'm pretty happy with the result...

Beautiful image Peter. The large version is simply amazing.

It looks great in this months AS&T.

Peter,

So what software did you use for the mosaic?

Turbo

Magical! Top shot(s) Peter! Star colours are rich & clean and this helps give the image impact. Faultless stitching too!

Cheers, Marcus

Panorama factory...but I suspect any panorama software will work well with mosaics.

Nice repro Peter. Excellent details on display. I assuming this is a straight LRGB correct? No Ha?

Thanks Jase. Correct no H-alpha. I find unless the object is really dim (ie you really need the data) the extra work in getting the star colours right as a result of Ha layering makes it a questionable addition....

BTW the image didn't rate at CWAS.... maybe I need to add more frames!

Nice work I have to say I wasn't overly impressed with the printed shot in the current AS&T but the image on your website is superb. Just a shame they never look as good in magazine print.

Regards,
Rob
