Tycho, Clavius, Eratosthenes, Wallace and Mont Wolff

Hi All,

I had a few goes last night with my Ba'ader Moon and skyglow filter and was impressed with its ability to bring out more details in the stars, constellations and on the moon.

Here are some shots of the moon using the 12.5mm ED and the M&S filter of Tycho and Clavius as well as Eratosthenes and Mont Wolff. The camera was at 2.75x Optical and these are stacked off 300-450 frames each.

The last three shots are some single shot jpg's which have only had sharpening applied to them and been resized for IIS limits.

Thanks for stopping by!

Image 1 = Tycho (top) and Clavius (from AVI)
Image 2 = Eratosthenes (left), Mont Wolff and Wallace (top) (from AVI)
Image 3 = Waxing Gibbous view 70% (still at 80x)
Image 4 = Tycho (top) and Clavius (still at 166 x)
Image 5 = Closeup of Clavius (still at 200x)

Some nice shots there, were you imaging in colour? Personally I've never seen the point of using a filter when you can adjust the exposure, gamma or gain to get a nicely balanced picture.

Yeah, I was using the Pentax digital in colour. I had the filter in and it made it easier for the camera to auto white balance on some shots as the manual settings are a bit screwy on this camera.

I was checking out the usual nebulae suspects and swung around to the moon and just happen to leave it in.

The close up of Clavius is a bit blurry but, all in all these moon shots are a hell of a lot better than my planet ones!
