Playing around with an old lens

G'day all,

Took this shot (shots) on Saturday night. Nice night, very good viewing conditions.

I was playing around with my old pentax Asahi lens on my 350D, seeing what kind of results it would produce. It produced perfect images on my Pentax SP1000 with film. I remembered from these shots that I used to stop it down to F/4. Next time I will do that, and it should remove most or all of the distortion visible in this image.

Overall this isn't a spectacular or ground breaking image, in fact the edge 1/3 is very badly distorted. But they can't all be perfect.

There's a 1mb version here at my website.

Pretty amazing what you can get with 60 second subs. Would've been a really nice image doing F/4, 400ASA and 180s exposures.

Roger.

Wow, that's beautiful Roger.

Is that a mosaic? What's the focal length of the lens?
