The Lonely Sentinal

One of the entrants in the Bermagui Seaside Fair sculpture comp.

A lonely figure, doing his duty in a period long gone, standing guard over our beaches, looking back in history in bronze.

Cheers

Hi John, It's a very detailed sculpture and a great setting. It definitely conveys a lot of sentiment.
In the first photo he looks a bit like John Howard, I hope it's just the angle.

Cheers

Ya got me !!!!!!!! don't have an artistic bone in my body. Just thought it looked kinda , well, lonely, but symbolic in an old fashioned kinda way. .

Gee, I am reading to much into this, it's just a Stature.

Cheers

maybe he's on the lookout for the next load of invading baby eating 'boat people' a la Tampa - whimsically hoping to save his political hide again just an interpretation

The statue is JH and first appeared at Old Parliament House in 2004.

http://abc.net.au/news/australia/act...2/s1040489.htm

It has done the rounds at a number of local shopping malls, and I guess is going further a field to see what mischief can be made. Some have found it funny, others offensive (some people have threatened in the past to vandalize it if it wasn't removed) and most couldn't care less. Gets a run every now and then in local newspapers where ever it appears - bit like a garden gnome - only nobody wants to steal this one - too heavy I suppose.

Of course it's JH.
In the first shot, can't you see bush in the background ?
Ok, ok, sorry I couldn't resist.

Great shots John, thanks for that.

Ah well, didn't know that, I really didn't take that much notice of who it could be. Looks like someone has thrown a furphy into the local comp.

Personally, I don't give a rat's about politics anyway.

Cheers
