Instruction manual for North Group ED127

Hi gang, received the ED127 from the classified here and was wondering if anyone had a link to an instruction manual or had answers to a couple of questions regarding it. I've read the Explore scientific ED127 manual but its not quite the same i.e. finderscope mount. Also, while I'm here, does anyone know how to mount the finderscope (the mount looks sorta round and not the typical square base) and what battery the illuminated reticle takes?

I had and really liked mine for a few years a few years ago and found the paper work that comes with these is at best ,,?? is as good as the instructions that come with the " Department Store 765x 60mm refractor on HD mount "

So like me if you were buying this scope you knew all about 675x refractor's

These scopes are a bone of contention with refractorholic's some like me got a really good scope optically but its focuser was HORRIBLE !!!! ( I put a $950 FT on mine because of those sweet FPL53 triplet optics ,,, )( QC my end ) .

Others got rubbish optics and perfect focusers "Lewis" you got your your ears on ? ,, get my drift QC was ( is ? ) lacking .

On the finder mounting ,, yes now you are talking !! , different yes , but functional and solid ? the best I have ever used ,,, shame the 675x manual lost this page ( I have one mounted on my 5 inch iStar ) .

All I will add is , is if you got a good one awesome because these are amongst the best 5 inch scopes ever made but dirty old QC ???? lets you down every time ,,, yes it's expensive , but its part of the cost of the telescope ( 80% min ) .


Enjoy your scope as the universe in a 5 incher , well it start's here .

Hi Brian, we'll see whether or not the scopes up to par when I pick up the EQ6 tomorrow. Do you know what battery the finderscope used for the illuminator?

You'll have to post a picture of the finder base. ES use a proprietary slot type attachment. Rounded doesn't sound ES or Northgroup original.

I had a hate-hate relationship with the 127 I owned very briefly but YMMV.

Hi Tony,
I have attached a photo of the 127 that I used to have, showing the finder attached.
The batteries for the illuminated reticule were LR41/AG3 button batteries.

my focuser looks a bit different. it looks like the bolt is not adjacent to the focuser but off to the side a bit. I'm assuming it can still be mounted regardless aha.

If you loosen the appropriate screw the blue ring rotates.

ooh thats a neat feature. This is why a manual would have been handy

P.S. got the battery spec from jjjnettie who owned one of these aha, the finderscope now works flawlessly
