PPMcenter or PCFE- Sunspot settings required

This ones for the gurus. I'm trying to use PCFE to process some sunspot bmps. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like doing it. I tried with the standard settings, but not go. I then mucked around with the threashold setting...still nothing. I then forced the process and away it went. Unfortunately it didn't so a very good job of centering the sunspot it was jumping all over the place.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? I've attached a single frame so you can see what I'm working with.

Thanks

It won't work.. ppmcentre expects the background to be space, and have some object in the middle.

You've got the "sun" as the background, and a darker spot in the middle. The threshhold setting is for a noisy background, so you can raise it to a level above the noise, but you've got bright sun as the background.

I'd give up, sorry Paul.
