Here is A Real Telescope!

For all of you refractor aficionados.....

The TEC250fl

I think it's priced at a most economical mid $50ks

Look like a RATO unit on the back of that ute! Makes Yuri look small.

Oh, and it is fluorite too... YES!

On an AP1600 in a 5m dome under a decent dark sky... that would be the peeeerfect public outreach scope that . Actually one of these was offered to Mt Stromlo by a friend of mine, to replace the Oddie, but sadly they were not yet ready to accept it and turned it down....

If I were to be the receiver of that particular instrument, I would not be well impressed buy the yaahoo and cavalier approach to it's handling in those pictures.
You guys would be welcome to it, I'll stand behind you in the line, looking at your plastic with wonder.

Firstly, If this is the first of the TEC APO250VT I doubt the objective cell is in place in these images..it is just the tube assembly.

Secondly, Yuri Petrunin is very professional in the manufacture of his line of scopes and is attentive to his customers...so don't judge just on these images alone. I have a TEC 160FL and it is a fantastic well crafted scope.

And additionally to what Hans said, I am sure Yuri would only do such a "stunt" with his own personal sample.

The images posted by Peter have Prototype in the name thread so you are correct Lewis, it is more likely his personal scope.

That particular telescope weighs in at a whopping 50kg, I seriously doubt that Yuri is able to lift up and comfortably balance a 50kg instrument! If he could lift it upright on his own, I'll start calling him "Man of Steel"

Yeah that musn't have the lens in it. Yuri seems to be concentrating very heavily in the photo.
They have done that before with the first TEC140 before the body had been painted white.

I think its good the way they supply a ute with the scope!

It would be an amazing visual instrument. Imaging, perhaps a bit too unwieldy.

Greg.
