Pier height for Observatory

Hi guys
Just would like to no what pier height would you use in a observatory for the G11 .This will be a permanent.
Any ideas will be great.

Just high enough so the bottom reaches the floor Could you not get a feel by playing with the set up on a tripod and go with that height.

Hi Phil,

also you need to know what hight the observatory opening will be. I presume the G11 is an EQ mount. If so the scope will be at its lowest when viewing the northern horizon.

Lester, would it be safe to assume if you had built your obs & pier around the 14" SCT you currently own, you would have made the pier a lot taller?

It all releative to the height of the observatory and scope you have.

I wanted mine as high as possible so when I park the mount it's in the horozontal position and clears my sliding roof by about 6 inches.
