Hello,

Thanks H0ughy for alerting us to the news.

Boy, that was quick, the images were hot off the PC and Spaceweather must have put one up as soon as they received them. It really is great to see so much Australian content on that site, specifically contributions from the IIS community.

This was one tough object! My ccd acquisition software (CCDSoft) and the planetarium software (The Sky 6 Pro) normally integrate and work together really well to help with these projects….except when you have a scant few minutes, the programs crash and stop communicating, the mount loses sync, daylight is looming and the dawn clouds begin rolling in…….aghhhh

I was reduced to plotting on-screen charts and leap frogging the ‘scope ahead to try and capture the little blighter passing through the field of view. I have a new found respect for the push/pull to dobsonian community on IIS!

All in all, a very, very lucky imaging session where I could so easily have ended up with nothing at all. Thanks for all your warm words of encouragement; I sure needed them this morning!

Cheers

Dennis

"Congratulations" just doesn't sound like it's enough.
Once again Dennis you've made us very proud of you.

Well done my friend.

You need something to make the Melbourne Cup exciting, otherwise it's just another bunch of horses running around a track. That was my most memorable Melbourne Cup to date and it will be hard to beat.
