Tree Top Milky Way in Brighton

Hi Folks,

Here is an image of the Milky Way as a test of what is possible on a DSLR using a fixed tripod/no tracking and a light pollution filter in a suburban backyard with a fairly decent level of light pollution (Bortle Class 7 with SQM =18.82).

You can gauge the level of light pollution from the Street Lighting (High pressure Sodium Type) by the degree of illumination on the Norfolk Island Pine tree top in the bottom left corner of the image. ( I Should have done with & without filter- next time perhaps)

Exposure:
80seconds (8s x 10exp) @f/2 ISO 800

Using:
Nikon D800 Modified, Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4, Marumi Redhancer Filter & Fixed tripod (no tracking).

The image was stacked in Sequator and has been stretched somewhat. Don't look too closely or you'll see the results of that in the background noise, but as a full size image it's OK. I'll try the same somewhere darker next time when the skies eventually clear in Melbourne.

Best
